Punjab and Colombo set the pace


Colombo has an easy time against Delhi

Punjab and Colombo set the early pace on the opening day of the International Inter City Kabaddi Championships at the Police Depot.

Punjab after being penalised for fielding overweight players in their opening match against Colombo beat hosts Kuala Lumpur by a whisker.

Punjab led by a single point with seconds left in their match against Kuala Lumpur forcing the hosts to go for broke in the defence of Punjab's last raid. However Punjab's raider was able to escape the defence of three KL players to pave the way for his sides 63-59 win.

Earlier the match between Punjab and Colombo was declared a 41-41 tie.

Colombo defeated Delhi in the evening to lead the table on points difference ahead of Punjab.
