KAKL Honoured

The Kabaddi Association of Kuala Lumpur was given a pleasant surprise when it was picked as the runner-up for Best Sports Association at the Majlis Anugerah Sukan Untuk Semua Wilayah Persekutuan last night.

The award was presented to KAKL president S.T. Arasu and Honorary Secretary R. Balamurugan during the function at the Equatorial Hotel in Kuala Lumpur by the Ketua Pegarah of the Ministry of Sports (Youth and Sports Division) Dato Haji Fathul Razi bin Haji Bakri.

The award comprised of a certificate, a trophy and RM 3,000 in cash award.

The FT Silat Association was picked as the best association while the KL Wushu Federation was adjudged as the third placed association.

KAKL president S.T. Arasu said that the award was a timely boost for the association.

"It is a vindication of the good work we have been doing to promote the sport," said Arasu.

He added that the recognition goes a long way in proving wrong the detractors of the association, who have been sabotaging the association.

"We are perhaps the only state association which has been completely ignored and victimised by the national body, but we have proven once again that good work is indeed recognised," he added.

KAKL, has perhaps the best kabaddi team in the country, having won the Sukma last year.

"We are confident of repeating the feat in Malacca next year," he said.
