Sri Devi and Segar triumph
Sri Devi Kabaddi Club clinched the men's kabaddi title at the Selangor Tamil Bell Youth Club Council championships at Batu Caves today.
Sri Devi overcame a tentative start to romp past the Indian expatriate team of Pasum Ponn 26-7 in the final. They led 13-5 after the first half.
Earlier in the semi-finals, Sri Devi were easy winners over Kg Pandan Lions.
Pasum Ponn stunned Selayang in their semi-final match by adopting the right strategy of playing a more defensive game.
However, they were not able to repeat the same with the more experienced Sri Devi in the final. The win was a morale boost for Sri Devi, who lost in their last final appearance in Bukit Pelandok and their disqualification from the Kings of Kabaddi tournament.
Segar foiled a double for Sri Devi by winning the women's title. Segar beat Sri Devi, Sri Manjari and Brooklands in the single round robin competition.
Deputy Foreign Minister YB Kohilan Pillay gave away the prizes to the winners.
