Selayang antis pinning down the Sri Devi Dragons raider
Selayang Kabaddi Club stole the limelight on the opening day of the Premier League Kabaddi at the Dataran Remaja in Bukit Jalil.
The young Selayang squad, were beaten 22-30 by favourites Sri Devi Dragons, but showed they would be a team to watch in the coming months.
Sri Devi Dragons, playing without two of their first choice players, were made to look ordinary by their lesser opponents for much of the first half.
Selayang’s defence working on overdrive and Sri Devi Dragons’ main raider K. Siva found himself unable to give his side any advantage.
It was Selayang that dictated the pace in the early stages but inexperience saw them giving away points allowing their rivals to take control of the game.
In another match, Kg Pandan Lions defeated Damansara Kabaddi Club 39-23.
Veterans Tamillan Kabaddi outplayed their younger rivals MIG Sentosa 33-51.

Earlier in the day, in the women’s league matches, Sri Devi Dragons defeated teammates Sri Devi Angels 89-46 while Sri Manjari defeated Damansara 45-27.
A total of ten teams are taking part in the men’s league and another six in the women’s league.
The next round of the league would take place on March 15 in Kampong Pandan, Kuala Lumpur.
